ARTIST STATEMENT
My practice explores the evolving relationship between identity and freedom, using the human figure as a metaphor for the unseen struggles of self-definition. I merge charcoal, acrylic, and fabric to create figurative compositions that speak to both personal and collective experiences. Through elements such as fragmented forms, masks, and birds, I portray the constant negotiation between confinement and liberation between who we are and who we are becoming. Each work invites reflection on the layered nature of identity, particularly within African culture and its dialogue with modern existence. My goal is to evoke silence, introspection, and reconnection to one’s truest form.
